Failing assign permissions to user SharePoint 2010 -


very odd problem occurs when try assign permissions single user using name picker. have 2 users has similar names: jason hillmer , jason hill. when permission assigned jason hillmer working expected, when trying assign permission jason hill fails saying: "the user not exist or not unique.". i've checked database sharepoint 2010 sources users , totally different, different emails, last names, usernames , on.

actually don't have way grant access jason hill sharepoint website.

does know how solve problem? there way trick system? , know why problem occurs when have 2 totally different users, if have similar names...

generally when receive "does not exist or not unique" message, can click underlined name see available options , choose correct user.

another way accomplish same type in user's email address or login instead of "friendly" display name, since unique values should resolve correct account immediately.
